Question : I have been facing heartburn & acute gastritis trouble. So as suggested by the doctor had an Ultrasound scan done which indicated gallbladder polyps.

Based on this report, I was referred to a specialist who asked me to get an Endoscopy & MRPC done.

Upper GI Endoscopy report:

Clinical diagnosis: GERD
Oesophagus: Normal Mucosa
Stomach: Mucosal hyperemia noted
Duodenum: D1 and D2 normal
Impression: Acute Gastritis

MRPC report:

Gall Bladder: Distended. Multiple small filling defects noted adherent to the gall bladder wall, largest measuring 4mm at the neck region - suggestive of gall bladder polyps (also correlated with sonography, found not to be on-dependent, adherent to the gall bladder wall). No evidence of calculi / focal mass lesion.

Impression:
Multiple Gall Bladder Polyps. No other significant abnormality.

Question(s): For gall bladder polyps the doctor has asked me to consider removal of the gall bladder (Cholecystectomy) as there is a risk of polyps turning malignant. Please suggest. Is there a link between gall bladder polyps & my condition of Acute gastritis? Also, why do GB polyps happen? Is there no way to remove them with medicines.

Brief Answer:
Surgery needed for polyps

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through the details you have provided.

There is no relation between your symptoms and the polyps.

Gall bladder polyps can develop malignancy hence I agree with your doctor that you need a cholecystectomy (removal of gall bladder).

Polyps can be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors.

There is no way the polyps can be removed without surgery.

For your gastritis I would advise you to continue pantoprazole.
Also avoid tobacco, alcohol, carbonated drinks, fried food, red meat, citrus fruits and mint/ chocolate flavors. I would also suggest limiting tea/ coffee to two or less cups per day

Hope this helps
