Question : 2 weeks ago I ate hot ( scorching ) soup. Swallowed it and think I may have burned my esophogeas
I had heartburn after that and have experienced heartburn on and off since then. OTC meds are not helping. What do you recommend

Brief Answer:
omeprazole or pantoprazole

Detailed Answer:
hello
i would like to know a few things.
what is your age?
do you have weight loss difficulty in swallowing or reduced appetite
In case your age is above 40 or if you have any of the above symptoms,
i would advise you to visit your doctor as soon as possible as you will need a physical examination and might need an endoscopy.
i would suggest you take acid suppresing medicine like omeprazole or pantoprazole
i would advise you to avoid fried foods and chocolate flavoured foods ,carbonated drinks and red meat
i would advise you to avoid alcohol
Yur symptoms are unlikely to be because of esophageal burns because of the soup
Hope this helps do get back in case you have further queries

Hello, thank you for your reply
I am 38
And not experiencing any difficulty swallowing or weight loss due to not eating
When the heartburn starts I can't eat because the acid is intense
I did have endoscopy 2 yrs ago and the Gastroc told me I had "silent reflux"
Perhaps it's just not "silent" anymore ?

Brief Answer:
meds of minimum 8 weeks

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
If your endoscopy was done and suggest reflux then now the reflux has become symptomatic.you are right in quoting that it is not silent anymore.
I would advise you to take omeprazole or pantoprazole of a minimum period of 8 weeks .
