Brief Answer:
Can be due to spondylitic changes.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The feeling of heaviness at the back of the neck can be related to spondylitic changes in cervical spine or a muscle spasm. Abnormal neck position while playing golf can also cause this. Rest, using a local analgesic gel and doing regular neck isometric exercises will help in improvement.

I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out. Wishing you good health.
