Suggest Treatment For Heavy And Long Periods

default
Posted on Sat, 7 Jun 2014
Question: I had been having a very heavy , long lasting period with large clots that has slowed considerably after one of your doctors suggested inserting progesterone cream in the vagina. (I can not get into my gyno for another two weeks) I am very grateful for this advice, however I appear to be having even more trouble with insomnia ...it is now 4:54 am and I have not slept more then 45 min. What can help with this?? Will taking benadryl to sleep be counteractive? It is making me very anxious as you can imagine.

Brief Answer:
Benadryl not a permanent solution...

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

Benadryl can be used occasionally for sleep problems. I do not advise to take it as a permanent solution for sleep problems.

I usually advise:

- herbal supplements (or tea) containing Valeriana/chamomile/aloe vera herbs
- avoid coffee/energetic drinks
- drink more water
- eat healthy foods
- avoid oily/fatty/high caloric foods
- be more physically involved

All these have helped my patients with insomnia problems. You can try and see if those can help you too!
