Question : My daughter experienced a straddle injury bicycle riding 11 days ago there is still a hematoma the size of a lemon at what point do we need to consider having it drained or will it continue to heal? It was the size of an orange. We did have an overnight at the hospital on the 1st day of the injury-we continue to do baths and ice.

Brief answer....given below Detailed answer.... Since the hematoma has reduced in size considerably,you may wait for a week more. In case it is paining now or if it shows some sign of infection like redness or local pain,then you can get it drained immediately. If at any point of time,you feel that size is not reducing anymore,you can get it drained. I hope it helps,however you may revert to me for any further query. Best of luck Thanks
