Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
As there is associated blunt trauma to the chest involving the ribs, an x ray chest would certainly be required especially in the presence of coughing up blood. Yes you should go to an E.R near you. A CT scan can be advised if the findings are equivocal on chest x ray or better visualization of the internal organs is required. A bronchoscopy can finally be the option if the hemoptysis ( coughing up blood) doesn't subside and increases. Since you had associated head trauma, if on the neurological exam the findind in consultation with your doctor.gs are normal and there is no associated history of vomiting, seizures, loss of consciousness or amnesia then a CT scan wont be required and most likely NSAIDs with muscle relaxants can be starte
wishing you best of health
thanks
