Suggest Treatment For Hemorhoids

Question: I suffer from hemorhoids and have recently been usung suppositories to ease symptoms. I felt like I may have done a little damage inserting one and the right hand side of my rectum is swollen and sore. Is this ok or would I need to get checked.

Hi and thanks for the query,

I do not think you really need to bother much. I think the problem should simply due to trauma around the anal region. Using an oily emulsifying agent or gel (oil) like vaseline, eat enough vegetables and fruits and drink a lot of water. With these, coupled to anti inflammatory drugs like Ketoprofene, taken in the middle of your meals, it should be enough to control the pain and reduce the swelling. Avoid spicy agents like pepper.

In case the symptoms persist for a couple of days or intensify, you might need the second opinion of your doctor. If not, with these measures, you should be fine.

Do not bother much and feel free asking any follow up questions in case of need. thanks and kind regards.
