Suggest Treatment For Hemorrhagic Spot On Legs

Posted on Fri, 8 May 2015
Question: Hello, any idea on what this purple marking on my leg might be? It's a bit washed out because of the camera flash but it's much more pronounced in normal lighting.

Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Kindly provide details

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same.
I have seen the attached pictures .
The lesions look like either a hemorrhagic spot or they might be lesions of lichen plants.
I need certain more details from you about the rash in order to reach a diagnosis.
Since when do you have this problem?
Is there any associated pain or itching or discomfort?
Is it raised above the skin or is it only beneath the skin and is not felt by hand .
Any prior trauma to the area ?

I am sure I will be able to help you better once you provide me with the above the details.

Hello Dr XXXXXXX Paul!

Thanks for your response.

I've only just now noticed the spot but I've never checked there before so I can be certain for how long it has been there. It's not raised above the skin at all.

I work in a back stock room and in the past I have hit my legs in various places so I don't know if this could be related.

There's no pain when when touching it or the area around it. I will say though, that my legs do begin to hurt, tingle, and feel cold if I sit in a chair for long or short periods of time. I also get this sensation if I sit in a reclined chair with my legs elevated. The only exception to this is if I am laying in bed or standing/walking.

Thanks for your concern!

Please let me know if I can provide further details. :)

Brief Answer:
Need not worry ,perforator incompetence

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Thanks for the details .
You are probably developing a mild perforator incompetence leading to appearance of superficial clog with blood locally .
It is nothing really to be worried about .

It is quite common to develop such lesions over the lower extremities.

The discomfort that you notice in legs during periods of prolonged standing might be due to venous blood congestion in legs . So try to avoid prolonged standing ,take breaks in between .

This discolouration of skin should not bother you , it might slowly improve on its own ,even if it persists ,it should not be worrisome in case there is no associated pain or discomfort .

Hope it helps
