Suggest Treatment For Hepatitis C

Question: I was treated for the calendar year of 2013 with oral medications and weekly interferon shots. I thought I did not have hep c any longer but went to my XXXXXXX Health Service doctor in XXXXXXX NC and they said the test is positive. Meaning I still have hep c. Is this common?

The good news now is that we have safer patient friendly and highly effective regimens with more than 95% success rate. Given the fact that the last results show that you are still having this virus, it is important to seek new treatment. I understand the frustration but this is certainly the best plan moving forward. I did not want treatment for this initially but my husband was insistent that I get initial treatment. After that schedule of medication, I felt so much better I was going around everywhere proclaiming the benefits to treatment. I personally still feel so much better and have not noticed any symptoms. What should I be looking for? My initial exposure was in 1968. Thank you.

You need PCR test in this case

I have reviewed these results. An antibody test in your case is of little significance as you had once been treated for this condition. This test may simply relate to the past infection and nothing much with the current state. What would be of great help is a PCR testing looking for the virus and not antibodies once produced against the virus. Ask your doctor for this.
