Question: I HAD A BAD CASE OF DIARRHEA THAT LASTED FOR A DAY AND A HALF AFTER EATING A LARGE AMOUNT OF BEANS. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER, I HAVE WHITE OR CLAY COLORED STOOL. DOES THAT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH ME BEING DEHYDRATED AND NOT PRODUCING ENOUGH BILE??

Brief Answer:
Hepatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

The fact that you had diarrhea followed by pale/clay colored stools could mean that you had a concomitant hepatitis. Pale stools almost always means that bile is not getting added at adequate amounts to the stool.

Here is what you should do
1. Get a liver function test followed by ultrasound scan of the abdomen to rule out obstructive causes of pale stools like gall stone
2. Give your stool for rotuine testing
3. Keep a watch on your stools for change of colour
4. Watch out for pain abdomen and jaundince
5. Dehydration does not cause pale stools, it causes hard stools. Dehydration does not cause reduced production of bile

I hope I was of help,if you have any further queries please get back to me
