Suggest Treatment For High INR Level

Question: I am a coumadin patient and my last protime was Friday. It was very high at 4.3 I am now experiencing unusual brusing and called the hospital but due to an emergency they can't help right now. What can I do to thicken my blood? Can I go about my day if I'm careful? Should I use ice or heat? Thank you
my bleeding includes a hematoma the size of a canning jar lid. The top of my foot is bruised but not swollen and I have a dark quarter size buise on my inner thigh. I do not have bloody urine or bloody gums. I drove tractor yesterday for four or five hours but don't remember bumping myself in anyway to have caused bruising of this level. I am a Lyden Factor five clotter so I am on cumadin for life. But I have never been this high before. The Dr. lowered my level but the bruising has come after.

Brief Answer:
Just be careful to avoid injuries.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Since your INR is under 5 (4.3) new guidelines recommend to lower the dosage of Coumadin.
Since you don't have any major bleeding ,there is nothing else you can do.
Just be very careful and avoid activities that can cause trauma ,even minor ones.
For the bruises you don't need to apply nothing on them. They will go away gradually.

Since you measured INR Friday ,you should repeat it soon. These days if it is possible to see if the INR level is lowered.

You don't need to worry.Even why the INR level is high and your blood is thinner that it should be ,predisposing for spontaneous bleeding ,it is not very high so the risk for major bleeding is low.
You just need to be careful to avoid injuries and measure your INR soon.

Hope it was of help.
Let me know if you have other questions or doubt to clarify.I will be happy to assist you further.

Kind Regards!
