Question: I have prediabetes, high ldl, low hdl, high triglycerides and I'm obese 240 lbs 5'10". Both my parents have diabetes. Is there anyway for me to avoid diabetes or is it genetic? How do I get my numbers back to normal? Sugar cravings are very high so I can't stop eating and i have no energy to exercise.

Brief Answer:
Metabolic syndrome

Detailed Answer:
Good day,

Noted your concern. You seems to have metabolic syndrome with prediabetes. The way to control this is by weight reduction. You did mention about low energy levels. Hence, to begin with the best way to reduce weight would be to reduce the quantity of dinner. Have a small and early dinner. Reduce simple sugars and fizzy drinks as much as possible.
Metformin is medicine now approved for use in prediabetes to prevent or post pone ocuurance of diabetes. It also reduces apetite and hence may promote some weight loss. You could also enroll for a weight loss programe or seriously consider bariatric surgery to reduce weight.
