Question : Hi. I have high blood pressure, and I also take Effexor for anxiety. I am taking my Atenanol (sp?) and Norvasc, but I ran out of Effexor. My blood pressure feels like it is really high. Is that possible? Does Effexor affect blood pressure?

Brief Answer:
lack of effexor would not cause an increase in BP

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Effexor does affect blood pressure but it is usually associated with causing a high blood pressure.

Since effexor can cause an increase in blood pressure in some persons then lack of the medication would not normally cause the blood pressure to increase , rather, it may cause it to decrease.

It is also possible that it would have no significant effect at all.

Summary: (1)effexor can affect the blood pressure-causes a rise
(2)lack of effexor may cause a decrease not increase in blood pressure

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
