Question: I need help understanding the results of my nuclear stress test from 4 days ago. I have not heard from my cardiologist and my appointment with him is not for 2 weeks, but I have some concerns about the test. It says that my LV Systolic Volume is 7 ml, my TID is 0.71, my LV Diastolic Volume is 47 ml and my Nuc Stress EF is 86%. What is the normal range for these numbers and do I need to be concerned. I had the test because over the last few months I have become short of breath with even minor exertion and have pain in my jaws and between my shoulder blades. I am a 59 year old female, height 5'4", 185 lbs, on no medications with borderline high blood pressure averaging about 135/85 except when stressed. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Brief Answer:
Your test reports are well within normal limits

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am,

After carefully going through your attached medical reports and your query I would like to tell you that all your reports are well within normal recommended range. Here I will try to simplify things for you and explain your query.

1. LV systolic volume is the amount of blood left in the ventricle after a normal contraction. The normal range of this is 22 to 58 ml. As you were going through a stress test due to which your heart was contracting more forcefully than usual that's why in your case it was 7 which is okay.

2. LV diastolic volume is the amount of blood that fills up in the heart during relaxation period of the heart. The normal recommended range of this is 67-155 ml. Again as your heart was pumping faster due to the stress test so the time usually taken by it to fill up gets reduced so is the volume of blood which again is normal.

TID is Transient Ischemic Dilatation which basically is an index for evaluation of coronary artery disease. The normal upper limit for this is 1.19. So this also falls within the normal range.

I hope this information will answer your questions as well as concerns and will help relax. Feel free to ask if you have any other doubts.

Kind Regards
Dr. Bhanu Partap

Hello Dr. Partap,

Thank you so much for your reply, this puts my mind at ease. Now I am free to explore other avenues to try to find the reasons for my symptoms, but at least I know it is not my heart. I will follow up with my cardiologist, but now I do not have to worry for 2 weeks.

Best regards!
