Suggest Treatment For High Cholesterol And Extreme Headaches

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Question: I am 28, when I was 26 one night I went into a fib. I have had multiple tests done, VQA Testing, Echo, Stress test, Nuclear Stress test and blood work. Everything has come back just fine. I have anxiety which is why I am reaching out to you to see if you have ay special answers for me.

They could not find a reason as to why and say it may be a one time thing, I need peace of mind with this. Because of a one time episode can I take Advil? I am getting different answers from all doctors and pharmacists what are your thoughts?

I remember being very stressed out and upset the night I went into Afib, could this have caused it? What is your professional opinion on this matter? I have high cholesterol and am quitting smoking. Also I have extreme headaches which I am getting an MRI for. Could you please give me information regarding ALL of my questions?

Appreciative,

J

Hi dear. Thanks for writing me back.

I deeply regret that the cause of Atrial fibrillation could not be found even though you have undergone battery of test. But I were to document Atrial fibrillation first before identifying the cause.

Have you got holter monitoring test? This is a test which records your ECG, heart rate round that clock and abnormality of the heart rhythm can be easily detected.Further I would like to manage depending on the grade (Mild degree/grade do-not require treatment).

Though stress could have probably triggered the episodes need to be documented.Did you experience a missed heart beat, any history of dizziness, chest pain?

Advil contains ibuprofen and is a pain medication(donot treat Atrial fibrillation). It is important to keep your cholesterol levels under check and quit smoking which is a risk factor for abnormal heart rhythm.

I were to suggest stress relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation, pranayama regularly. They not only keeps a healthy mind, also improves your lifestyle and keeps your stress at bay.

I would evaluate headache before it can be treated.
How frequently have you been experiencing headache?
When does it increase? Is it continuous?
Where do you feel the pain?
What do you do to reduce the pain? When does the pain subside?
Have you checked your power(vision)?
Do you have any history of medications?

Await you kind reply to help you better.Thank you

Hi there,
Thank you.

I have had holter done too and nothing abnormal a couple ski[s but the cardiolgist says that is normal. Always have chest pain with anxiety, it is hard to differentiate the two at this point. Is it okay to take advil if I have had just 1 episode of afib in the past?

Headaches everyday for 1 month, got new glasses last week but still get the headaches. It is everywhere in my head, changes on a day to day basis or a thought to thought basis, I wonder if it was my anxiety making things happen to me? My dr booked an MRI for me only in August - could that be anxiety?

What are your thoughts on everything? DO YOU THINK IM HIGH RISK HERE? Or could it just have been a 1 time occurrence and the stress is relating me to chest pain, headaches and muscle pain?

Brief Answer:
Practice stress relaxation techniques

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear. Thanks for writing me back.

Excess stress result in the spasm/contraction of chest muscles and hence this mimics as chest pain(heart related pain). Advil as discussed shall not relieve you from chest pain due to anxiety.I were to start on a low dose of anxiolytic (Zolpidem).

Headache is not suggestive of any pathology.MRI might probably not reveal any findings.

You are true that the anxiety levels are a real cause for chest pain, headache and muscle pain.I were to say that you are absolutely perfect which is seen as a reflection in your reports that you have got.I were to insist on adopting/practicing stress relaxation techniques since it definitely improves your quality of life and brings in peace of mind.Hope this keeps you in good health.
