Question : I have high cholesterol, hypothyroidism - and took care of my Alz's hubby for 13 yrs. My health went down hill - ended up with pneumonia, bad hair loss, fatigue, etc Could this stress affect my thyroid problems? I have not had a blood draw for awhile - what kind should I ask the Dr. for specifically?
Brief Answer:
Good to have some tests
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
I appreciate your concern and love for your husband and the long time you spend taking care of him, even ignoring your own health. Stress can affect many organs including the thyroid.
It is good to have some blood tests to make sure that everything is fine and to correct if there are abnormalities.
I would recommend a hemogram, thyroid function tests, creatinine, blood sugar, ALT, calcium and vitamin D levels.
When these are available I shall be happy to interpret them for you.
Wish you a good day and good health.
