Suggest Treatment For High Feratin Levels In Blood

Question: I am in the life insurace sales business. i have a 51 year old client that has high feratin levels in his blood as well as significantly high liver functions. His mother had a blood disorder ( he is not sure of the name) could this person have Hemachromatosisi? If so what can be done?

Hello. Hemochromatosis is an iron storage disease that affects the liver and key to the diagnosis is high ferritin levels and evidence of liver damage.

The mainstay therapy is phlebotomy--taking out a pint of blood every six weeks or so--until the iron levels fall.
