Question : Hello, I have a 3 year old who has had a fever since Monday evening ranging between 99-105. We've given her Motrin and Tylenol but the fever does not break. Last night I noticed that she was very restless while trying to sleep. She has seen a doctor but the doctor said its not a virus. She also has nasal congestion and coughing.

                                    Brief Answer:
throat infection.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query.
It looks like your child has infection in the upper airway or throat.
If it is not viral as your doctor said, then you might need antibiotics.
I would prescribe syp. amoxycillin to my patient if there is bacterial infection in throat.
You can consult your doctor for that.
Continue tynelol or motrin every 5 to 6 hrly for fever.
For nasal congestion you can use saline nasal drops.
For cough you may need brochodilator like terbutaline if there is coughing more at night.
Hope I helped you.

yes
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the follow up.
It will (amoxycillin along with terbutaline) stops the cough and sore throat will also be taken care of.
For that you need to see a doctor and get his prescription.
If cough is irritating and disturbs while sleeping at night then you should give cough syrup.
Anticold syrup can be added for relief from sore throat.
Hope I helped you.
