Brief Answer:
Radiotherapy should be considered.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

As he has advances prostate cancer, the pain in hip and back is most likely caused by bones metastases of the cancer. This is very common problem with prostate cancer. Unfortunately the pain can get gradually worse and fracture can appear as well.
To help him with the pain, he should have radiotherapy of affected bones. Please consult his oncologist and discuss about this therapy. Radiotherapy kills cancer cells and can give much relief in case of bones metastases.
He should also start pain therapy with opioids (Morphine, Oxycodone, Fantanylum). This should be also discussed with his oncologist.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
