Question : Qui am breaking out in hives from doxycycline for pleurisy. I have taken 8 capsules so far and the pain I had is gone. Is it safe to stop taking the remaining 6 capsules. I cannot get in touch with my doctor or the hospital emergency room where I was treated.

Hi and welcome. If there was a allergic reaction to doxycycline then it should be definitely stopped and you can replace it with another antibiotic or stop it completely if there are no more symptoms but you should of course consult your doctor about it too. Wish you good health. Regards
