Question: My father is 90 years old has been suffering from episodes of feeling hot and shivering for the past 4 weeks. During the last couple of days these episodes have worsened in their effects. He says that his legs feel sweaty and cold at the same time. He says it is a very strange feeling and not pleasant. He is taking paracetamol when he feels unwell. He fell over a month ago and seriously bruised his legs. He has no medical conditions we know of apart from asthma.

Urinary or Lung infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your query.
I can understand your concern.
Considering All his symptoms , he may be suffering from either urinary tract infection or some lung infection.
Get his urine tested for routine and microscopy as well as culture and sensitivity.
If he has any symptom of lung involvement, like cold , cough,or even mild wheeze or breathlessness, please get his blood work and X Ray chest also done.
Hope his bruised leg has healed without any infection.
Paracetamol SOS is good choice.
Hope I have answered your query.
If any thing else you are welcome.
Good luck.
