Question : Can these doctor's fax in a prescription for you? During holiday out of the generic medication for Effexor called Venlafaxine Tab 225 mg ER. . Medication prescribed for Hot Flashes due to Treatment after surgery. Experiencing bad Hot Flashes and Night Sweats. Please help..

Unfortunately, you need a prescription for Effexor, which cannot be obtained online (you can refer to terms and conditions section). This is because a thorough consultation and examination is needed before giving the prescription which cannot be done online.

If your doctor is off office, you can try over the counter meds and following remedies until you see your doctor to take prescription:
- primrose oil supplement or black cohosh; some of my patients find it help a mixture of chamomile tea with aloe vera and valerian; you can try it and hope it will work for you too
- anti-inflammatory medications (e.g. ibuprofen)
- avoid wearing tight clothes; avoid drinking alcohol or caffeinated drinks; or eating spicy foods;
- sip ice water when starting to feel hot flashes
- exercise can help
