Suggest Treatment For Hyperactivity And Lack Of Concentration In A Child

Looks like ADHD.....he needs evaluation please
Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. I understand your concern.
By what you quote I feel your child is having hyperactivity.... It may be an attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Hyperactivity is a disorder of the mental makeup of the kid and not a physical deformity of the brain. Some kids may respond to iron simply and some kids my need other medications like Atomoxetine. But whatever it is the kids needs a thorough psychological evaluation and may be after behavioural therapy it might get better.
But usually hyperactivity kids have very good IQ and if their energy can be diverted to a vocational training or any art or sport they like they will do wonders.
I suggest you seek the help of a good paediatric psychologist.
Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.

Suggestions on what can done at home for a hyperactive child
Detailed Answer:
Hi.... this is what you can do for your kid who is supposedly hyperactive.
1. Maintain a structured atmosphere at home. Do not keep changing the daily routine from getting up from bed to going back to sleep.
2. Maintain eye to eye contact with the child and also ask him to do the same when you are talking to him.
3. Explain to him in clear terms that you are unhappy when you get a complaint back from School regarding his behaviour. Make him understand that you are having unpleasantness when he does such things.
4. As far as possible minimise distractions for the kid from whichever activity he is being involved in.
5. Please make sure that he understands that he is not being punished or being restricted from whatever he wants to do.
6. Try to divert his energy levels towards other productive activities like swimming or outdoor sports or art and craft or other vocational activities like drawing or use of playing building materials.
7. As he is an 8 year old kid he will definitely understand, so try to spend more time with him and talk to him and make him understand that he should keep his energy level under control or divert it to other physically productive work.
8. Maintain daily to do list after sitting and talking with him and make sure that he does all the things which are there in the to do list. If he does everything in a particular day give him rewards and make him understand that he is doing extremely well and this is what is expected of him.
9. Try to find out if anybody in his friends' circle or in his classmates or peer groups is hyperactive and if possible try to avoid that particular child's company.
You can try all these measures which I have suggested for 3 months period. If you feel he is still hyperactive or he is still getting complaints from the school then I feel that you need to consult a child psychologist regarding this.
