Suggest Treatment For Hyperosmia

default
Posted on Fri, 20 Feb 2015
Question: I have developed hyperosmia over the last 1 1/2 -2 yrs. It is now to the point of literally destroying my life. I can smell things that most people cannot smell. Example, I can smell the Freon when the AC is on in my vehicle or apartment and in some stores. Is there any medication I can take to suppress my smell.

Brief Answer:
You can try Metoclopramide.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

There is no definitive cure for hyperosmia, but treatment depends on the cause. (head trauma, sinusitis, genetic)

Dopamine antagonists (e.g. Metoclopramide/ Reglan 10 mg/ three times a day before meals) could help in reducing symptoms.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
