Question: I have diabetes. I am currently taking metformin and Insulin. I have been having loose stool to diarrea. I had nausea, dizziness, sweating and weakness before I passed out for approximately 8 hours and came to disoriented. My sugar was 136 this morning and 84 when I awoke. I had nothing to eat before I passed out. What happened?

Brief Answer:
This is hypoglycaemia

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.
The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of a possible hypoglycaemia episode.
I think your sugars might be too tightly controlled.
That can cause such symptoms if you don't eat.
I usually prefer to admit such patients to readjust their dose.
I suggest that you meet your diabetes specialist and get the doses modified.
Recurrent hypoglycaemia can be dangerous.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal
