Posted on Tue, 9 May 2017
Question: Hi
My daughter got blood test today for TSH and D3 levels

She got

D3 - 10.89

TSH - 11.53

Only problem I can see is her weight is on higher side. Her age is 8 years and weight is 37 kg.

Please suggest medication options and if she has to be under medication life long.

Her mother has history of hypothyroidism.

Brief Answer:
PLEASE START HER ON THYROXINE

Detailed Answer:
dear sir, hi and welcome to HCM.
As the report says, the child is primary hypothyroid, and needs treatment.
as per weight, please put her on tab thyroxine 50 mcg , empty stomach , early morning. keep a gap of 30 minutes over the tablet before giving her anything to eat or drink.
review her after 6 -8 weeks with TSH and FT4.
keep her physically active and also watch her diet.
regards!
