Suggest Treatment For Hypothyroidism

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Apr 2015
Question: Hi. My thyroid tests show TSH high, free T4 mid-range normal, free T3 low. So it seems T4 is not converting to T3. What do you think is going wrong. Where might the problem lie? What steps can I take to rectify?

Thanks XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Do you have any symptoms like fatigue, slow pulse, dry skin, constipation..

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry so sorry to hear about these abnormal laboratory values and all the inconveniences this has caused you. I will like to review these results personally as the numbers high/low are not enough to make any sound conclusion and recommendations. I suggest you upload a scanned copy of these results to me for more insights.

If I were to go with just what you have reported, this is suggestive of hypothyroidism and treatment consists is replacing the hormone. However, this needs to be correlated with your symptoms and also I will like to see the original laboratory report before concluding on this.

In all, please provide answers to the above questions and also upload a copy of the results. If these are impossible, please let me know.

I hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience!

Yes I do sometimes more, sometimes less, plus feeling cold. Have had some hair loss and brittle nails

I can't upload test results, but thyroid numbers are:

TSH 3.9 mU/L
Free T4 14 pmol/L
Free T3 2.3 pmol/L

What other numbers can I give you from FBC?

Thanks for caring

Brief Answer:
Follow the following to upload!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

To upload, clicl on the upload a file link which is located on the right side of your dashboard. Follow the on screen instructions and upload the file. It would be sent to me. If that fails, you can also send it as an email to customer service and request that they attach to your query and they would.

If that is not possible, I will appreciate WBC, RBC, and HB values from the FBC.

Thanks and hope to hear from you a t your earliest convenience.
