Question : I have rls and have been on mirapex 1mg for about 10 years. I'm recently experiencing compulsive gambling. What drug can I be switched to? What alternative drug besides mirapex, can I take for rls that will not have a side effect of compulsive gambling?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
Impulse Control Disorder is the underlying problem for your irresistible urge to gamble. This is a rare side effect of Dopamine agonist, the drug group to which Mirapex belongs.
In addition to healthy lifestyle like eating wholesome food, exercising at 30 minutes a day, practicing relaxation techniques and avoiding smoking and alcohol, you could try Gabapentin 300 mg at bed time.

Do get back to me if you have further questions.
