Question : Hi, I am 70 years old and since a few days my heart rate is over 100. I feel weak, out of breath ,nearly dizzy..I have emphysema and ahsma . The doctor changed my medicine lately and put me on Onbrez and Alvesco.
After a while not feeling well I went to see my GP and he recognized that Onbrez could have an effect on my heart {which is weak too}. I took Onbrez for nearly a month . how long do you think it will take for me to go back to normal... of course I went back on my old medicine since Friday

                                    Brief Answer:
Maximum of 5 days
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:
1. Onbrez contains indacaterol, which is known to increase pulse rate.
2. It is known to be very effective in COPD. However, since the side effects are serious and with a weak heart, continuing the medication is not advisable.
3. The medication, once stopped should reduce its effects within 2 days and maximum it should completely resolve to normal pulse rate within 5 days.
Not to worry. It should be almost reducing now.
Hope it helps.

                                    Brief Answer:
No allergies, need to improve hydration and diet.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking again.
Sorry to know, that you have still not completely recovered.
If you had any side effects or allergies, you should have shortness of breath, even during rest.
Hope your heart rate has returned to normal.
Need to check your hemoglobin levels. If normal, more rest should be necessary. Do continue with good hydration (5-6 liters of water - hope there is no swelling in lower limb or any edema anywhere) and protein rich diet.
Not to worry. You will recover.
