Question : Hi, I have been an indigestion suferer since my early teens. Now I am 54.
10 years ago my indigestion got SO much worse and I started taking Omeprazole 20mg twice a day and it subsided.
10 months ago it got really bad again. Omeprazole 40mgs 3 times a day and ranitidine 300 mg 3 times a day does not help. I have severe dyspepsia 12 hours out of every 24
I never vomit, my stool appears normal, I have lost weight but am still rather fat.The weight loss is caused by my being afraid to eat and by practising portion control
I am not exhausted or drained. My bowels are ok
I worry a lot about my dyspepsia
I have raised my bed head, avoid eating at night, avoid all caffiene and alchohol. Avoid citrus mint and smoking. I do not eat aliums or flesh for religious reasons

                                    Brief Answer:
Needs work up and management
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern, indigestion issue since teens should be evaluated for any anatomical causes like hiatal hernia a commonest cause for uncontrolled acid refluxes. A complete work up is advised like endoscopy, capsule endoscopy, ph monitoring, esophageal manometry etc. Also work up for other functional bowel disorders like irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel diseases need to be considered. Modifying diet and lifestyle is the key.
I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Supportive care
Detailed Answer:
Oh ! i am sorry for your family troubles, i wish you all good health. Lose weight, eat small frequent meals, delay lying down after the meal for two hours, avoid spices, fatty foods, dairy products, canned and processed foods, avoid too much sweets and confectionaries, chocolates, sauces, alcohol, soda, beverages, smoking both active as well as passive, exercise regularly, drink more fluids, last but not the least, eat chewing gum, this will induce a prokinesis , forward peristalsis and help reduce the acid reflux symptoms.
I hope it helps.
