Question : I have a large cyst in my groin area. I am scheduled to have it surgically removed in the morning. It is extremely painful. Tonight it has started weeping a bloody, milky material. If it ruptures before I get to the hospital in the morning what should I do? I am on Bactrim and have been for three days.
Brief Answer:
I think its already ruptured.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
In my opinion the cyst is already ruptured. Moreover it may be a cyst or an abscess.
Do not try to squeeze out the discharge until you get to the hospital. Clean the expelled contents with a clean sterile guaze. You still need to go to the hospital, as they will evacuate it completely and thus will help to limit the spread of infection. Until then continue bactrim as instructed.
Maybe you also need an antibiotic upgrade, which they should do.
Hope i have been helpful.
