Question : HI, I had an infection in my big toes in the summer and although the infection is gone it is still uncomfortable under the nail. Since then, when I get hot my toes will go quite red, no pain and no swelling. Im not sure what to do. The doctor doesn't seem to think all that much about it. I have also developed muscle pain in my calves in both legs...I'm stumped???

Brief Answer:
Possibility of Gout should be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Possibility of Gout should be ruled out. Uric acid level in blood should be checked for this. Blood routine and ESR should be checked to rule out infection.
In case of positive signs of infection X ray of toes should be taken to rule out bone involvement. In case infectious process under nail removal of nail and proper wound care will be helpful.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
