Suggest Treatment For Inflamed And Painful Lump On Finger

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Dec 2014
Question: I have a cyst on the middle finger of my right hand which my dermatologist treated by giving me a numbing shot in my finger and then cutting the cyst to release the contents. After a week or so the inflamed lump on the finger remains and is painful when I bend the finger. Is there any home remedy I can try?

Brief Answer:
Please, provide an image for inspection!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this cyst. Please, I will like to have an image for inspection so that we can provide more personalized and helpful information toe you.

If this cyst was simply cut and the cavity not closed, am afraid it would accumulate again and present the same problem again. For now, try cold packs and pain medications such as Ibuprofen and Tylenol. I will provide more information after reviewing the photo.

Brief Answer:
Please, see a surgeon about this!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the image. I have reviewed it fully and the cyst has totally formed again.

This is a minor cysts. Unless it produces disturbing symptoms, I will recommend that you keep it a lone as it has no long term complications. However, if it causes pains, then the right person to excise is a surgeon. The pocket where the fluid collects needs to be taken out and failure to do so would result in repeated recollections after mere incisions. Talk to your doctor about this.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.
