Suggest Treatment For Inflammatory Bowel Disease

default
Posted on Tue, 5 May 2015
Question: I suffer from abdominal discomfort which includes pain, gurgling and gasses. I am OK if I starve or have totally bland food. It all started a year ago in XXXXXXX when I had minced meat and lentils for dinner and during the night suffered from acute abdominal pain and a number of visits to the toilet. I occasionally still get these bouts. Enterogermina did and does help me. But haven't really taken a proper course of it. Will be most grateful for your guidance Dr. Rynne. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
You could be having Irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HealthCare Magic. Thank you for posting your query.
I can understand your concern.

It is difficult to comment without actually examining you .
You might be having irritable bowel syndrome or Inflammatory bowel disease. You need a colonoscopy to clinch the diagnosis. Do not worry much.

I would suggest you to -

- Avoid oily,spicy food
- I would start tablet Pantoprazole
- Have a diet rich in fibres
- I would start Lactulose syrup to soften your stool
- Get an ultrasound abdomen done

It may be time that you get a colonoscopy done. There are other investigations like capsule endoscopy or double balloon endoscopy that might be needed later on.

Do not worry.

I would suggest you to visit a gastroenterologist. He/she can examine you and correlate clinically and guide you on the further MANAGEMENT.

Hope this helps.
Have a nice day.
Regards.
