For the past 4-5 months my PMS cycle is getting quite delayed. Normally also my cycle would be 35 days but now its around 45 days for the last few months. Also, there are intermittent crams (like the ones you have when you are about to get down or are down) from the date I got down last time but the bleeding would not actually start till 45 days. Also, I have noticed a decrease in bleeding flow.
Can you please suggest possible reasons?
PCOS/ HYPOTHYROIDISM / HYPERPROLACTINEMIA
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,
The most common causes as in your case for delay in cycle or oligomenorrhoea is likely to be PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome with clinical hyperandrogegism and multiple cysts in ovaries often leading to anovulatory cycles and hence delay .
Another possibility is that you may have developed hypothyroidism which can simply cause scanty menses and delayed as well.
Third possible cause is hyperprolactinemia or increased serum prolactin levels. This is indicated if there is discharge from the breast nipples due to increased sexual stimulation.
Please get a hormonal profile and an ultrasound pelvis done to rule these out and the review with reports.
Thanks
