Question: I hit the ground hard last July playing golf. It feels like I injured my Flexar carpi radialis/flexar carpi radialis longus. Its been 8 months, & I still have pain next to the humerous. How long might this take? Its like a tendon tear.

Brief Answer: Tennis Elbow Detailed Answer: Hi, From what you describe it sounds like you have tennis elbow which is an insertional tendonitis at the origin of the flexor tendons over the lateral epicondyle of the humerus - the bump above your elbow on the outside of your arm. This is a troubling problem caused by degeneration (old age ) at the insertion of the tendons into the bone. The symptoms can be helped by physiotherapy and local treatments such as ultrasound therapy. Antiinflammatory medicaton such as ibuprofen can also be of benefit. Steroid and local anaesthetic injections can give some relief. Occasionally patients require surgery to release the flexor tendon origin from this part of the bone. I hope this answers you question best wishes
