Suggest Treatment For Insomnia

Question : I can't take anything that can cause insomnia. My daughter takes celexa at bedtime and says it helps her sleep but she is an "easy" sleeper. does it help to start with a low dose?

Thanks for writing to us.

From your question I understood that you have some features of depression but doctor told that you are not suffering from depression as per criteria. You need some medicine which does not cause insomnia and help in your depressive features.

Celexa (citalopram) can cause some sedation as side effect which is useful in patients with sleep disturbance. You can start with 5 mg dose of celexa under your doctor's guidance.
Other option is sertraline(zoloft). Is it also good antidepressant with some sedative property.
