Question : Since dinner last night I've been experiencing intense burning/gnawing pain across my abdamin. I've been diagnosed with barretts esophagus, hiatal hernia, gerd, and pelvic floor prolapse. I'm debating whether or not to call urgent care or the e.r. but I'm afraid it will be a waste of time. They never seem to find anything when I go in. I'm also experiencing pale mucusy diarrhea, and nasty tasting belching (not sulfury though). This has actually been going on for quite awhile now.(at least 2-3 years) I really need this pain to stop. But nothing seems to be working. I've tried taking an extra omeprazole, drinking milk, Tylenol, and XXXXXXX seltzer,(not at the same time). My lower ribs are very tender as well especially on the left side. What could this be and is there anything else I can try?
Brief Answer:
Get a stool report done
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing in
We have seen a good number of patients who have lower GI infections do not respond to Omeprazole
I would suggest go for a stool examination and start antibiotics as per the reports
Followed by a colonoscopy if need be
In the mean time take Rabeprazole along with Domperidone twice a day and a probiotic twice a day
Hope this helps
