Question : I have started an exercise challenge at the YMCA. Weight lifting, squats with weights, etc. Also, cardio workouts. This is 3 reps for each exercise and 3 times a week. I developed intense pain around my R hip and there is a bump on the lower R side toward the center of my back. I have been icing it, but it doesn't relieve the pain. I have been taking Advil but it doesn't seem to touch the pain.

Brief Answer:
Possible muscle injury, advice to undergo X-ray if pain persist

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Since you recently started a new exercise regime, the likely cause for pain and injury is muscle injury or sprain. You can continue applying ice and take Advil. Also, refrain from exercising for few days and take adequate rest.

If the pain does not subside in next 5 to 6 days, follow up with your primary care provider to undergo X-ray spine and hips for underlying bone injury.

Hope this answers your question.
