Suggest Treatment For Intentional Overdose Of Dolo 650

Posted on Mon, 8 Dec 2014
Question: Hi,
My wife had 12 Dolo 650 tablets intentionally. She realized the mistake and called me immediately. I have taken her to emergency care within 30 minutes. They have emptied her stomach, given antidote with saline in IV. After a day now, she has been moved to normal care from Emergency care . Doctors told that she can be discharged tomorrow if the toxic level in blood is reduced. They are continuously monitoring toxic level through blood tests. Are we in right track? Will she be saved? What diet should she follow to get well soon after she gets discharged? Please assist me.

Brief Answer:
She will be alright.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
It is good that she got an immediate medical attention. She is getting the right treatment. She will soon be back to normal. If the gastric lavage is done within 30 minutes then almost no drug is absorbed inside.
She needs to have a light and easy to digest diet for next few weeks. Give her a good mental support so that such episode is not repeated in future.
I hope this answers your query.

Thanks.
It has been 2 days now and Doctor says that there is good improvement in her body . They asked us to get discharged today. However she experiences mild pain on back of her chest both left and right. Is this dangerous or any kind of symptom. Let us know what should be done for this.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be muscle pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The mild pain in the back is posture related. It is not related to the intake of the medicine. This is not dangerous. She can improvise her posture and do some stretching and see if it helps. Doing a hot compress will also help.
Hope my answer is helpful.

Hi.
The doctors said the Tylenol levels have dropped and my wife is out of danger. She is discharged now, however I wanted to check with you on two things:
1. Will this Tylenol level increase or fluctuate again due to any reason? Is there any other factor that could affect the liver or any other organ due to over dosage?.

2. I will make sure that she follows an easy digest able diet however, I'd there any other way to improve liver hearth. ...?

Brief Answer:
She is safe now.

Detailed Answer:
1. Once the levels have come down these will not increase or fluctuate again unless she takes the tablets again. There is no danger to her liver now.
2. Avoid greasy and spicy food. This will decrease the stress of digestion on the liver and will allow it to heal.
Regards.
