Suggest Treatment For Intermittent Pelvic Discomfort

default
Posted on Thu, 4 Jun 2015
Question: Hello!
Have a question in regards of pelvic discomfort which is unwilling to disappear. It has been present over the last months, disappearing and then coming back. Lately it has been present for more than a week. It is located just above where penis starts. It is not a pain but general discomfort, feels occasionally like little burning as well. There is also a more frequent need for urination, at least once in every 3-5 hours and then it feels a little bit better for a short while. I have a feeling that the urination starts filling up shortly and then the discomfort begins as well. Did some googling and found answers it being a cancer - how do you see it and is there something I could do at home?
My latest PSA reading was 1.093, out of which 31% was free PSA. I have also had an abdominal ultrasound where they said that the bladder was normal.
And of course the urin analysis which was OK in the normal test but showed up some inflammation during the nickel test. However doctor said it was mild enough and did not provide any medicine.

Brief Answer:
It could be due to infection of Prostate (Prostatitis)

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have discomfort in pubic region ,burning urination and frequency for urination since last one month.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you have pain in perineal region?
2) Do you have painful ejaculation?
3) Are you Diabetic?

Since your PSA is within normal limits there is no possibility of you having cancer of Prostate .However your symptoms are strongly suggestive of infection of Prostate (Prostatitis.)

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Routine Urine test and Urine culture
2) Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Trans Rectal Ultrasound Scanning (TRUS)
4) Semen examination and Semen Culture .

In the mean while start taking broad spectrum antibiotics like Doxicycline along with anti inflammatory medicine like Diclofenac twice daily.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Thank you for your quick answer. The answer to all the questions would be "no". Just after ejaculation this discomfort as such is a bit more prominent.

I have registered also for the tests but would this discomfort be not an indicative of bladder or testicular tumor neither. I have had bladder recently checked via abdominal ultrasound and it was fine. Testicles also seem to be normal by hand and nothing hurts there. Just above the penis where it is.
