Suggest Treatment For Itchiness And Pain After Bee Stung

default
Posted on Fri, 12 Sep 2014
Question: I was stung twice by a bee, 2 days ago. I always react very bad to bug bites. I was bitten by a Brown Recluse spider 5 times up my leg, about 25 years ago, and can't tolerate any bug bites since. I have had blood poisoning 3 times from bee stings, and fear I have it again. The place it stung me twice on my leg is purple/red and VERY hot to the touch. I feel nausea and my arm is numb. It itches so bad and is becoming quite painful. I have tried a lot of over-the-counter remedies for bee stings but it is getting worse.

Brief Answer:
Allergic reaction progressing-medical emergency

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

Pain, redness, heat, itching and numbness along with NAUSEA indicates progressive allergic reaction with beginning of systemic involvement.

This warrants immediate medical attention and need administration of intravenous anti histamines and corticosteroids to bring down the reaction, followed by oral drugs for a few days. Otherwise, this will progress to shock with severe hypotension. Also, a tetanus shot is needed if you had not one recently.

Kindly reach the emergency room as soon as possible. Meanwhile you can take one tablet each of chlorepheniramine and prednisolone, if available.

Wishing for faster cure.
Thank you.
Dr Muhammed Aslam.
