I had a allergic condition of Itching, burning sensation on my arms and rashes developing on scratching the surface. On visit to a skin doctor, he suggested that I take Mon Tek LC. Now after 2 months, if I forget to take the tablet for some reason, next day by afternoon I develop the following symptoms 1. feeling as if there is a block in my throat,2.Hiccups start 3. The buring sensation and itching comes back etc. Can any one suggest what this could be and how to solve this without being dependent upon MonTek LC tablet. Thanks in advance.
You need to identify the allergen first.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description ,possibility of urticaria is more. It is allergic skin condition causing similar symptoms.
Allergy is one kind of reflex of the body. This is seen upon exposure to allergen.
Allergen can be dust,pollution,smoke,pollens etc.
Best treatment of allergy is ,identification of allergen and if possible complete avoidance of it.
You are improved with MontekLC. This suggests allergic etiology because montek LC is having montelukast and levocetrizine and both are anti allergic in nature.
Your symptoms reappear after stoping this tablet. This suggests that you are continuously exposing to the allergens.
So better to get done allergy testing and find out the allergens .
Please le me know
1. Have you ever undergone allergy testing?
2. Do you have coughing or wheezing or breathlessness?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions,so that I can guide you better.

2.Once in a very long while I have this breathlessness.
3. When I stop monotek what happens is that not only the allergy condition comes back, but add to it I feel as if something is stuck in my throat, even swallowing saliva is slightly problematic. Moreover I get hiccups and feel very hungry after 2 or three hours. Even if I take Monotek at that time, the symptoms stay, in subsiding way till next day.
You are mostly having angioedema on stopping montek LC.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
Allergic disease can cause angioedema. This is spasm of throat muscles. And this is the possible cause for your symptoms. Anioedema usually takes longer time to recover than skin lesions.
So better to get done allergy testing. Try to identify the allergen and if possible avoid it.
