Suggest Treatment For Itching And Redness In The Anal Area

default
Posted on Tue, 5 May 2015
Question: I have been diagnosed with pruritis ani. I have been suffering for 18 months with no reason for my itching. About a week ago I felt a lump very close to my anus but on the outside (on my bum cheek) I think it was an ingrown hair so I took a mirror and checked it out and in doing so saw my anus is covered in red dots and it is completely purple. I have had a colonoscopy to determine the cause of my pruritis ani but no one said anything about hemorrhoids. Can someone help me. I'm suffering and it is affecting every area of my life.

I just uploaded a photo. I had put some calendula cream on so that's what is white. this picture doesn't do the purple anus justice. It's bright purple.

Brief Answer:
please give more information

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query (and sorry for a bit late due to network problem on my side)

(To recapitulate for my sake: age / sex not mentioned - history of Pruritis ani or 18 months -
no obvious reason for itching - lump close to anus a week ago on bum cheek - looked into mirror - saw the anus covered with red dots - anus completely purple - colonoscopy but no one said about hemorrhoids - seen photo with Calendula - bright purple.)

Please provide me further information regarding:
Treatment taken till today
Reports of blood, stool, urine, colonoscopy
Any information you would like to provide.
send as attachment as you have attached the photograph.

To discuss further:
The purple color is indicative of the following:
Congestion of the area
Inflammation of the area
Piles mass which is filled up

The red dots on anus can be due to:
Itching causing the skin problems
Infection secondary to procto-colitis

The lump could have been a boil / ingrown hair

The probable investigations and the treatment are:
-Investigations of blood and stool
-Stool checked on 3 different days as a single investigation may not give all the information.
-Colonoscopy - already done , please give reports.

Treatment Protocol:
Medicine against the worms and to be repeated after 15 days.
A course of an antibiotic and metronidazole with probiotics
Anti-itching tablets.
Vitamin A and D in therapeutic dosages and to be continued with Multivitamins.
Sitz bath
Oral steroids if required
If necessary an opinion of a Dermatologist and Gastroenterologist.

I hope by this time you must have taken some or all of the measures, please give me feedback so that I can assist you more.
