Question: The inside of my anus inches terribly bad. It is off and on during the day but not as severe as it is during the night, it often times wakes me up at night. The itching occurred about 2 to 3 months ago and then went away. It has started again and I do not know what triggered it or how to make it stop. I have not been able to pass a firm stool in about a week. I haven't had a bowel movement in 2-3 days. I have also been bloated. I eat a very healthy diet and drink at least one liter of water per day. I exercise almost daily as well. What can I do and what type of doctor should I see?

Brief Answer:
Infection and / or worms

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.

Read and understood your history.
The most probable reasons of itching in the anus are as follows:
-Intestinal infection affecting the anus.
-Possibility of thread worms

I would advise you the following:
Test of blood, urine and stool in particular. This will give some idea about the probable causes.
Consult your Family Physician to start with.
I hope you will be given a course of an Antibiotic, Metronidazole, Probiotic and a laxative, symptomatic like antihistamine for itching, advise for Sitz bath and as may be on clinical evaluation and actual physical examination.
This may be sufficient to give you cure.

As for the Doctor you should visit:
You may please ask for a reference for the Surgical or Medical Gastroenterologist so that further tests like colonoscopy and ano-proctoscopy can be done to see for any internal problem causing this external manifestation.

I hope this answer helps you to get a proper line of diagnosis and management to have a curative treatment.
Please feel free to ask for further if need be or if you feel that there is a gap-of-communication.
