Suggest Treatment For Itching Sensation All Over Body
Question: All of sudden, from last few days my 13 year old son develops itching sensation all around the body. there is no visible bite or mark seen; occasionally he see some kind of rash, when he scratches.
Citrizen, 1/2 tablet taken without consultation from doctor provides temporary relief to him but problem seems to occur after a day or two.
It has been thrice so far. Any guidance?

I would keep a possibility of Acute Urticaria. It presents as skin welts/swellings, which can be distributed all over the body. Itching is usually severe.
Urticaria OR hives can occur due to various causes like(to name a few):
--Infections(bacterial, viral, fungal, worms)
--Drugs(Pain killers/ antibiotics etc)
--Certain foods and food additives/preservatives
--Physical Urticaria: Cold temperature, Heat, Pressure(Prolonged Standing, Sitting), Dermographism etc.
--Cholinergic Urticaria: in response to strong emotions, exercise, spicy food etc ---Autoimmune disorders like SLE, RA etc.
--A few cases have no underlying cause and are known as idiopathic urticaria.
Treatment: An oral antihistamine like cetrizine syp 5mg/5ml once daily for a week would be suitable for him.
I would suggest deworming for him. Syp. Albenadazole 200 mg / 5ml. Give 10 ml single dose at night.
A topical soothing lotion like calamine would help him symptomatically.
