Suggest Treatment For Itchy Hives On The Neck

Question: I have a weird case of huge hive on my front neck. This has happened before, but it's been a while since the last outbreak. I take a Claritin daily. It's not laundry detergent or any new clothing or jewelry. Have you ever encountered this? Wondering what it could possibly be? I have also taken 2 benadryl a couple of hours ago...I am sleepy but STILL itchy! Help?!

Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I need to ask you few questions:
What is the duration of the present episode? Is it present for more than 24 hours?
Do you have history of thyroid disorders?
Is there any recent history of fever, sore throat, loose motions, vomiting?
Do you get hives anywhere else on the body?
Kindly revert with the answers.
Meanwhile you can take tablet Cetrizine 10 mg twice daily.

The hives began about 4 pm so it has been about 12 hours. I have no known thyroid problem. No to the fever, sore throat, etc. I do also have one other hive now on the left inner elbow area.
Brief Answer:
Seems to be urticaria, take tablet Cetrizine or chlorpheniramine maleate
Detailed Answer:
You seem to be having urticaria.
It is a common allergic reaction which can occur due to multiple reasons like infection, food and drug allergies, thyroid problems and even without any cause in majority of the patients.
If the hives are still persisting you can go for tablet Cetrizine 10 mg twice daily or tablet chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg twice daily.
If they are very itchy you can consult a doctor and go for short course of oral steroids.
