Question : I have what I assume is an insect bite on the inside of my arm. The itch has been horrendous. Nothing seems to help for long. I have taken Benadryl. This morning there is considerable swelling around the sight and a red ring around the edge of the swelling. I panicked a bit thinking Lyme disease but the symptoms and time frames don't match. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
it is most probably a bite.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, welcome to HealthcareMagic, it is most probably a bite.

Take Fexofenadine 120 in the morning, Cetirizine 5 at night. See if it works.
You may also need a course of Prednisolone in a tapering dose for a fortnight for which you will need a prescription from your doctor.

Locally, just apply Caladryl lotion over the affected area.

Feel free to revert back.
Regards
