Question : I have an extremely itchy rash that is continuing to grow on my back, knees, thighs etc.My urgent care doctor suggested that it could be foliculitis. The itiching is becoming worse and cortisone is not helping. It's becoming very hard to deal with.

Brief Answer:
Prescription strength steroid is the only choice

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

First, it's important to know the reason for the itchy rash. It could be fungal infections or eczema. Besides other reasons, these are common possibilities. You may please upload a picture of the rash for my review.

Since cortisone (very mild potency steroid) did not work you should go for prescription strength steroid like Beclomethasone or Mometasone with antifungal. Please be careful here as dryness and thinning of skin increases esp for the elderly. So it occurs to me that you should see the local doctor for these prescriptions.

Besides this, you can also take anti itch oral medications.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards
