Question : 18 year old daughter has contracted a skin rash on her legs and feet. It is very itchy and moves around. It appears as itchy, reddish, slighty raised blothches. We are vacationing on an island and are limited to only what we have here. (No stores, no nothing) Benedryl relives itching but not rash.

                                    Brief Answer:
Allergic reaction
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.
She has developed allergic contact dermatitis to any plant or sea weed.
She can take benadryl and anti itch lotion can be applied.
Try to notice, to which substance she is developing these rashes and avoid them.
Cortisone cream or any other steroid cream would have been helpful.
Apply it if you have a bottle of steroid cream right now.
Hope this helps.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Thank you Dr. It started small and has moved and grown. She has stayed indoors for the past 24 hours and it continues to move and spread. We haven't been able to isolate the source. Will this clear up on its own? Is there any chance that it's viral? Sulfur water maybe?

                                    Brief Answer:
It will subside
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Sulfur water can be causative agent.
Keep her away from that.
There are less chances of viral.
Viral rash is associated with fever and appears first on upper body.
Just relax it will subside.
Keep applying the cream and give her benadryl daily for 5 days.
It's not dangerous, there is nothing to worry.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
